Another area in which I produced a variety of landscape images was Falkirk Wheel, leading towards the nearby Union Canal. This visit formed part of my NMP, however, I also used this an opportunity to develop further landscape images that might form part of my general portfolio.
In this, I tried to experiment with many different representations of the wheel itself, emphasising details of its scale, design, function and how it related to its surroundings, identifying other aspects of the Falkirk wheel ‘experience’ – canal boats, maintenance and interaction.
The condition on the day weren’t the best or the worst for this shoot, however, throughout the day I found that this improved, especially when following the direction of the light and framing my subject from higher ground towards the sun. The result created a fairly definitive effect upon the subjects and their backdrop.
Overall, I was pleased with the resulting landscapes, offering a variety of compositions that encapsulated the wheel and its local area.
